My longtime friends Renee Sotile and Mary Jo Godges are independent lesbian (and married) filmmakers with their own production company – Traipsing Thru Films, Inc.. Occasionally they shoot LGBT events and produce stories for a general audience.
On Sunday, Jan. 16, they covered that the Williams Institute’s 10th Anniversary celebration, hosted at a private home in the Hollywood Hills. They report that about 300 people attended for speeches and jazz music from Sweet Baby J’ai. In this piece, Renee and Mary Jo interview founder Charles R. Williams and Founders Council member Roberta Conroy who explain what the Institute does and means for the LGBT community. For instance, in addition to providing facts and statistics for policy makers, on Wednesday, Jan. 19, the Williams Institute is hosting a book event at UCLA on the right for educators and students to be out in their schools.
