On Monday, April 4 – LGBT union members and union supporters are encouraged to participate in a National Day in Solidarity with Wisconsin workers, a day chosen specifically because it is the anniversary of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination in Memphis.  His last act was standing with striking sanitation workers.

Maria Elena Durazo, Executive Secretary –Treasurer Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Rev. James Lawson and Bill Lucy from AFSCME, will attend TONIGHT’S national solidarity day event at First AME Church of Los Angeles (at 2270 S. Harvard Blvd, Los Angeles, 90018, phone (323) 735-1251). Their acclaimed gospel choir, the Brookinaires, will perform and First AME Pastor John Hunter and and SEIU-ULTCW President Laphonza Butler will speak.  Wisconsin Bratwurst Barbecue will be provided by IBEW Local 11. The Barbecue starts at 5:00PM and the program starts at 6:00PM.

Pride at Work – which advocates on behalf of the LGBT and labor communities – notes that more on the April 4 national solidarity day actions can be found by clicking here on www.we-r-1.org
