I’ve been among those concerned about the apparently deliberate right wing attempt to suppress, curtail or deny voting rights to minorities, especially African Americans. The NAACP has been fighting this at Stand4Freedom.org. But Thursday night, April 5, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow exposed what she suggests may be a deliberate pattern by Republicans in the Michigan State Legislature to exclude elected Democratic representatives from having any say in public policy. I have seen no Republican reaction so far – most talk has focused on RNC head Reince Priebus’s comments comparing the “war on women” to a “war on caterpillars.” Please take a moment and watch this report. I can’t help but wonder if Michigan isn’t a GOP pilot project for other states.

I am glad that Rachel exposed this chicanery. But what strikes me is how stupid Michigan democrats must be. Don’t they know their own constitution? Why does it take a journalist to expose this? The democrats should have been screaming bloody murder. The question for me is why weren’t they?
