The New York Daily News reports that Dharun Ravi, who was convicted of using a webcam to spy on his gay Rutgers University roommate Tyler Clemente, is expected to be released from prison on Tuesday.
Ravi, 20, has served 20 days of a 30-day sentence, Middlesex County Jail warden Edmond Cicchi told the paper. Apparently he’s being released early because he started his term with five days credited for good behavior and another five days for working. Ravi was convicted by a jury of bias intimidation, among other counts. The prosecution is appealing his sentence.
Days after Clementi discovered that Ravi had web streamed video of him kissing another man in their dorm room in Sept 2010, 18 year old Tyler Clementi committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.
