Lance Bass: ‘Things Are Really Changing’ in Mississippi-Video

by Karen Ocamb on July 13, 2012

Singer Lance Bass attended the Outfest opening night gala in downtown LA Thursday night and spoke to Traipsing Thru Films filmmakers Renee Sotile and Mary Jo Godges about a new film he produced. Inspired by a lesbian teenager Constance McMillen, who sued her Mississippi high school for the right to take her girlfriend to the prom, Bass decided to go back to his home state and subsequently produced the powerful new documentary MISSISSIPPI: I AM.  Bass, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, says:

L.A., New York, Chicago – all these amazing cities that you can be yourself and be free. But we forget about those small towns like the ones I come from where you feel like the only gay kid in town and sometimes you are the only gay kid in town!”

Bass will be in attendance at the Outfest  screening  Saturday, July 14, 11:30am at the DGA 2.
