The AIDS Project Los Angeles âchip-timedâ 5K race fundraiser “Concrete Hero” has over 10 obstacles throughout downtown LA starts and finishes at 8:00am. (See Frontiers feature here).
APLA says:
An innovative fundraising concept and first of itâs kind obstacle challenges, Concrete Hero participants will leap over 26 parked cars & 2 buses in âCarmageddon,â scale a mock âHollywood Signâ tower, dangle above muddy pools in the âTar Pit Traverse,â and take on high winds, trembling ground, and blazing fires in âNatural Disaster Alleyâ in addition to other obstacles before wrapping up at L.A. LIVE with an urban-themed block party.
WHY:Â Funds raised by Concrete Hero participants support vital APLA programs including: The Vance North Necessities of Life Program, which distributes more than 150,000 bags of groceries in Los Angeles, APLA Dental Services, which offers over 12,000 no and low-cost dental procedures to people with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County and other mental & public housing services in LA.
