Kaiser Family Foundation’s official webcast coverage of the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) begins with a live webcast of today’s Opening Session at 7 p.m. ET, 4PT. Speakers include Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. Shortly after the live webcast concludes, an archived version will be available for viewing at any time.
In the meantime, we rely on Tweets and press releases via email that juxtapose the AIDS Healthcare Foundation rally and march with the theme “Keep the Promise” versus some AIDS Conference panels (here tweeted by Cathy Renna of Renna Communication) and by Washington Blade reporter Michael K. Lavers. Both reflect the ongoing controversies over HIV/AIDS.
Meanwhile, the White House released this well-produced video to welcome people to the International AIDS Conference – featuring photos of ACT UP and a sound bite from President Obama at last year’s World AIDS Day. The video closes with just 19 seconds of Obama actually welcoming the conferees.
