Free to the general public, ‘Wellness for Life’, is the 
longest standing Black gay men’s Wellness Conference in the United States. 
It is designed to meet the needs of Black gay, SGL, and bisexual
men both locally and nationally. This one day annual
conference brings together men from all walks of life
introducing them to some of our brightest and most relevant
heath care providers.
This interactive conference experience concludes with a
Los Angeles style catered lunch and entertainment.

10:30a.m. – 11:30a.m. Opening Plenary Session, ‘In The Lives of Black Men and Boys’, This comprehensive overview will explore of the complex issues of Black men and boys and the intersection of Wellness
Darryn Harris
is a native Angelino and has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University and a Masters of Education in Higher Education & Organizational Change from UCLA. He is Founding President of the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats (BLAYD).
Darryn currently staffs Assembly member, Steven Bradford on the Assembly Select Commission on the state of men and boys of color in California.He brings a wealth of experience from the California Legislature as a past staff member to Assembly Speaker Karen Bass. Currently, Darryn serves as the Senior Legislative Advisor to the Sankofa Group for Civic Engagement.
11:30a.m. – 12:30a.m. Session I, ‘Herbs To Live By’, Part presentation and Q&A, this session will explore the benefits of holistic, ancient Chinese herbs and remedies to address the issues of weight management, detoxification, hypertension, cardio vascular disease, diabetes and other wellness concerns with a focus on Black men.
Jewel Thais Williams has a BA in History from UCLA. She graduated from Samra University with an MSOM degree after extensive studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and received her Acupuncture license from the State of California in 1999. She has been both a co-founder and a board member of the following organizations: Unity Fellowship Church, The Minority AIDS Project, UCLA’s Lambda Alumni Assoc., Rue’s House, Ladies Concerned, and Imani Unidos. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Village Health Foundation.
12:30a.m. – 1:30p.m. Session II,’ I AM Empowered’, Carlton Wilborn will introduce his I AM Empowered mind, body and spirit, personal transformation program. Carlton will share the various components of his new teaching system; inspired by his award-winning autobiography Front & Center- How I Learned To Live There, and will help you access the subtle compartments of your soul, cultivate your ability to apply Carlton’s game-changer concepts, and strengthen your allowing of new possibilities.
Carlton Wilborn is a critically acclaimed author, empowerment/motivational teacher, world respected performer; with over 20 years of film, TV, stage and radio experience to his credit. The key principles that support his Empowerment Movement are Authenticity, Integrity, Love, Faith and Gratitude. Carlton has done charitable work over the years for Project Angel Food, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
1:30p.m. – 2:30p.m. Session III, ‘The Perfect Flow of Life’, this interactive session will address the importance of identifying, achieving and maintaining a holistic balance while addressing the day to day complexities of life. During this session participants will be empowered to better manage stress, ageing, HIV and other health related issues. The session will conclude with a call for each participant to seek for purpose in expressing ones highest good.
Rodney Collins, M.D. is a native of Southern California with Louisiana roots. He is a graduate of Dorsey High School, Stanford University and Howard University College of Medicine. For ten years he practiced emergency medicine and family practice before entering psychiatry training at UCLA. In 1999 he began the practice of psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower and is currently in private practice.Dr. Rodney Collins is currently the resident psychiatrist at New Visions Psychiatric Group, part of the MRH Medical Group in Beverly Hills and also practices at the AltaMed Healthcare Corporation. He has previously practiced at Kaiser Permanente, The Exodus Medical group, and The Hillview Mental Health Center.
