Of course the Religious Right is claiming credit for getting DNC delegates to put “God” back into the Democratic Party Platform! In fact, Rev. Flip Benham, Director Operation save America, is holding a news conference Thursday to specifically “thank the DNC and those delegates for their brave stance in the face of strong resistance” from ” the 457 practicing homosexual delegates, the National Organization for Women (NOW), Planned Parenthood (PP), National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), ad nauseam” who they think orchestrated the references to “God” being removed. Apparently the use of the more generic term “faith” throughout the document was insufficient and it took President Obama’s personal intervention to have references to “God” and Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel re-instated. But not without some awkward moments, as Morning Joe discussed with a panel and then with DNC Convention Chair Antonio Villaraigosa.
