This has personally been a difficult past few weeks, starting with the death of my beloved pooch Charlie and then the death of my friend and boss, Mark Hundahl. Meanwhile, my San Jose-based friend Gloria Nieto alerted me to a young poodle mix boy who desperately needed a new home and on Sunday, I drove three hours up and she drove three hours down to meet half way in San Luis Obispo to see if my six year old girl Pepper (a Cairn terrier) and Gloria’s rescued dog Dee would get along. They did and we are starting the new year with discovery and new friendships. I wish the same for all of you.

Karen – I know Gloria from my many years in Santa Cruz. What a blessing that two such powerful and awesome women would rendezvous for such a tender and loving cause. Happy New Year to all four of you. You continue to inspire the best in all we do.
